With this all being done the control scheme now feels very similar to how it did for the stupid amount of hours I put into this game on the original Xbox. I change abxy to be their corresponding buttons on my controller, I set R1 and L1 to the triggers, start and back get setup to they corresponding buttons, and I set R2 to my left thumbstick button (I set this to toggle in xinput). Next step is to go into the config menu for the game and set it up as you like. After that just hit the 3 bars in the top right and click apply to target. While in here you can also go to the hold tab in buttons and setup a button to toggle if you want for the first person view. Go to the DirectInput tab, click Enable, then swap LT/RT to button 11/12. \Program Files (x86)\GOG games\Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance\bin\mgs2_sse.exe You can also set a button to toggle making it easer to go into first person mode. I know this thread is probably a bit too old to be of assistance to the OP but I ran into this same issue and found a solution that worked for me.ĭownloading the program xinput plus gives the ability to take the triggers from the z axis and put them into buttons.
